Nice to meet you! I’m Shefali, an award-winning business journalist with more than a decade of experience in reporting, editing, editorial strategy and team management. My reporting has appeared in Financial Times Specialist, Industry Dive, Prospect Magazine, DiverseCEO and Federal News Network.

Reporting

My reporting includes everything from breaking news stories to newsletters to feature articles, in topic areas such as business, food & beverage, retail, supply chain, trade policy, and much more.

Editing

I’ve edited a wide range of work from green journalists and seasoned reporters. My style is to guide and coach through the pitching and reporting process, while letting the reporter’s voice and style shine.

Speaking

Whether my role is interviewer or interviewee, I’m a confident and polished speaker who brings just the right amount of personality and humor.

Shefali is a great manager. She’s kind and easygoing, buffering edits with gentle suggestions or questions. Shefali leads our team in a democratic fashion; she allows the reporters to have a hand in shaping the publication’s beats and she is receptive to feedback.

Lauren Elkies Schram

Shefali is the type of person ANY organization should have on its team. She is smart, focused, collegial, and a genuine “people person.” Shefali is a strong writer, adept at interviewing and crafting timely news and feature articles.

Peggy Laramie

I’ve worked with Shefali for several years, and she’s one of the main reasons that Industry Dive is such a great client. Her assignments are insightful and timely, and she provides enough information so that I understand her direction. She is flexible when I need to pivot based on the information I find when researching. Shefali provides helpful sourcing contacts when appropriate, as well as sending along pertinent articles or press releases that come across her desk. Her edits are smart and purposeful, and she is respectful of my time. She does not take shortcuts. She ensures that all bases are covered with fact-checking, so if there’s ever a question from a reader or source, we know the information has been thoroughly reviewed and vetted. Shefali is level-headed and thoughtful, and also has a great sense of humor.
